The Edinburg North Cougars won against the Mission Eagles last Tuesday with 38 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Edinburg North sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over Mission. Winning may never get old, but Edinburg North sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Edinburg North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roxanna Rodriguez led the charge by scoring nine points along with three steals. Rodriguez hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Etsel Ramirez, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds and three steals.
Edinburg North's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-16. As for Mission, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.
Edinburg North will head out on the road to face off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mission, they will be playing at home against Economedes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Economedes has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
