The Ouray Trojans won against the Dolores Bears last Thursday with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Ouray snuck past the Bears with a 52-46 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ouray.
Leading Ouray to victory were Cavan Pasek and Landen Hill. Pasek dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Hill dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keaton Nelson, who scored ten points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Dolores lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mark Palate. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 34.8% of Dolores' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Koby McClellan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ouray now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Dolores, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Ouray will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Dove Creek is ranked 248th, while the Trojans are ranked 246th). As for Dolores, they will head out on the road to take on the Buckaroo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Curtis Bunker and Palate.
