The San Clemente Tritons will square off against the Beckman Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with San Clemente sitting on seven straight victories and Beckman on four.
San Clemente had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Capistrano Valley Christian on Friday. The Tritons never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Tritons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Emily Racine made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine games.
In other batting news, Carli Coler and Sophie Nachman did most of the damage at the plate: Coler scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Nachman went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those two runs gave Coler a new career-high. Marley Readman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
San Clemente lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Beckman beat Trabuco Hills 5-2 on Tuesday.
Jazmine Cruz was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Park, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
San Clemente's victory bumped their record up to 15-6-1. As for Beckman, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. San Clemente hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Beckman struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
San Clemente came up short against Beckman in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 13-9. Will the Tritons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
