Lincoln has gone 8-2 against Mission recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Lincoln will square off against Mission at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lincoln was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Balboa on Monday. Lincoln was the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over Balboa. The matchup marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Lincoln got a massive performance out of Aidan Castaneda, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Castaneda a new career-high in RBI (two). Nicholas Chiu was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mission, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Balboa 12-2 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Assante McCallister made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. McCallister was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.
In other batting news, Noe Zuleta was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Dantzler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Mission pushed their record up to 2-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.9 runs this season. As for Lincoln, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Everything went Lincoln's way against Mission in their previous meeting on March 6th, as Lincoln made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
