Leading Taft to victory were Enrique Rodriguez and JJ Acosta. Rodriguez gained 179 total yards and two touchdowns, while Acosta threw for 222 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Acosta is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Taft also got help from Andrew Martinez who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Taft's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Hebbronville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Taft will look to defend their home field on Friday against Banquete at 7:30 p.m. Banquete is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Hebbronville, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Rosa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Santa Rosa is ranked 997th, while Hebbronville is ranked 999th).
