The Lutheran Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Lutheran is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Notre Dame Prep on Monday. Lutheran walked away with an 8-3 victory over Notre Dame Prep.
James Chumrau made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Chumrau was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Payden Joyce looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
Back at the plate, Connor Sanders was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jack Wesolowski, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Castle View 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Sunrise Mountain also got a great performance from Ethan Dinnell as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024.
Lutheran's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2. As for Sunrise Mountain, their record is now 7-4.
