On Friday, the Chaparral Wolverines faced the Regis Jesuit Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chaparral walked away with a 61-53 victory over Regis Jesuit. For Chaparral, this counts as revenge for the 64-44 defeat Regis Jesuit walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Gavin Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Christian Williams, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Regis Jesuit's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eric Fiedler, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Alec Roumph was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Chaparral is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Regis Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Chaparral will play host again and welcome Castle View, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Castle View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. Regis Jesuit won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Arapahoe at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th.
