The Sonora Broncos and the Hawley Bearcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Sonora Broncos had to settle for second. They were the victim of a tough 31-8 loss at the hands of the Bearcats. It was the first time this season that Sonora let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Sonora lost, one person who can't be blamed is Edgar Deluna. Despite the final result, he rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Keagan Ables, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 232 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt for Hawley. The team also got some help courtesy of Diontay Ramon, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Sonora's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Hawley, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Sonora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hawley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Stratford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
