This season hasn't been kind to the St. Paul Indians, who are still winless after their 11th game. They had to suffer through a rough 68-31 loss at the hands of Iola. While losing is never fun, St. Paul can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Iola is ranked 143rd).
Landon Weide continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Iola, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Mac Leonard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
St. Paul's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Iola, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
St. Paul's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cherryvale at 8:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Cherryvale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Iola, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Marmaton Valley at 8:00 p.m.
