The Lennard Longhorns will venture away from home to face off against the Plant City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lennard's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Brandon with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Kennedy McClain was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Sarita Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.
Lennard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .630. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Plant City put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Spoto 18-0. Fans of the Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Gibbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Samantha Raines and Summer Castro did most of the damage at the plate: Raines scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Castro went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Castro has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sher, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Plant City's record is now 3-0. As for Lennard, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Lennard has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lennard suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Plant City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Lennard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
