The Coeur d'Alene Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 75-62 win over Post Falls. Given Coeur d'Alene's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Post Falls is ranked 44th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coeur d'Alene was led to victory by Maddie Mitchell and Kelsey Carroll. Mitchell scored 22 points, while Carroll scored 24 points. That's the first time this season that Carroll scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Karisa Wallis, who scored nine points.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kailey Walton, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. That's the first time this season that Walton scored 15 or more points. Brooklynn Brennan was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Coeur d'Alene's victory was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Post Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Coincidentally, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls will both be playing Lake City the next time they take the court. Coeur d'Alene will host Lake City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Post Falls will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
