The South Mecklenburg Sabres will be playing at home against the Marvin Ridge Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Mecklenburg posted their closest win since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Palisades. Given South Mecklenburg's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Pumas are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peter Moye was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds. Yariel Chudgar was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge strolled past the Cavaliers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-30.
South Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marvin Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
South Mecklenburg skirted past the Mavericks 60-57 when the teams last played back in November of 2019. Will South Mecklenburg repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
