Beachside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Wolfson Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Beachside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
On Thursday, Beachside earned a 49-39 win over Episcopal School of Jacksonville. Given Beachside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Episcopal School of Jacksonville is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kendall Kane, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn (Madi) Ray, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six blocks.
Wolfson fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Parker 40-25 on Thursday.
Beachside pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Wolfson, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
Everything came up roses for Beachside against Wolfson in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 68-11 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beachside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
