Post Falls is a perfect 9-0 against Sandpoint since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Post Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Post Falls got the win against Bonners Ferry by a conclusive 15-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Sienna Williams was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Summer Dan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Post Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Sandpoint hadn't done well against Lewiston recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Bengals 14-12. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Marlee Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She also set a new season-high mark in runs with three.
On the hitting side, Sandpoint saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Baylie Hindle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Sandpoint's record is now 5-17. As for Post Falls, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Post Falls has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sandpoint struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Post Falls skirted past Sandpoint 17-15 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
