After flying high against St. Joseph last Tuesday, Rockwell came back down to earth. The Rockwell Marshals fell 61-54 to the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday. If the Marshals were looking for revenge after losing 60-45 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Isaac Christiansen and Devon Jessop certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Christiansen went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points, to go along with six rebounds and three steals, while Jessop posted 12 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Sekona, who had ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gunnison Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braxton Pickett, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Pickett has posted since back in December of 2023. Landry Edwards was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Rockwell now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Gunnison Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Rockwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-74 loss against West Wendover on the 6th. As for Gunnison Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-54 win against Wayne on the 6th.
