The O'Neill Eagles had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down Valentine 54-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as O'Neill also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
O'Neill was led to victory by Colton Osborne and Drew Morrow. Osborne dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds, while Morrow scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Ryder Pokorny was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Valentine's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Andon Olson, who scored 13 points along with 5 steals, and Isaac Cronin who scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Dominic Beebout, who scored 6 points.
O'Neill's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Valentine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
O'Neill will be playing at home against Elkhorn Valley on Thursday. As for Valentine, they will head out on the road to face off against McCook at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
