On Tuesday, the Harrison Central Red Rebels faced the Biloxi Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Harrison Central snuck past Biloxi with a 41-36 win. The win was just what Harrison Central needed coming off of a 53-27 defeat in their prior match.
Despite the loss, Biloxi saw an underclassman step up: Zaniya Johnson scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Aubrey Hill was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Harrison Central pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Biloxi, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison Central will challenge Gulfport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulfport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Harrison Central is ranked 13th). As for Biloxi, they will head out on the road to face off against D'Iberville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully D'Iberville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday.
