Baseball Recap: Purcell Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

Purcell barely beat Lexington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons blew past the Bulldogs 10-3 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Purcell got a massive performance out of Kash Knowles, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Knowles' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Cook, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Purcell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Purcell has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Purcell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-3 win against Bridge Creek on the 31st. As for Lexington, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-0 loss against Marlow on the 31st.
