The Oakwood Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Milford Bearcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Milford took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakwood, who comes in off a win.
Oakwood took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Seeger. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Cam Harris tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Oakwood let Chase Harrison and Bryson Marcinko run wild. Harrison went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Marcinko got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Marcinko has become a key player for Oakwood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Carsen Dudley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Oakwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seeger only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, Milford suffered their biggest defeat since March 29th on Thursday. They lost 11-3 to Covington.
Aiden Bell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Clutteur, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Oakwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Milford, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Oakwood couldn't quite get it done against Milford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
