The Kenesaw Blue Devils will take on the Silver Lake Mustangs in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Kenesaw has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Silver Lake will arrive with three straight victories.
Kenesaw is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Doniphan-Trumbull on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Blue Devils took a blow against the Cardinals, falling 77-48. The Blue Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-25.

Kenesaw's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adam Denkert, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds, and Lieron Suck, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and eight boards. Denkert's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jett Dixon, who posted four points.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Silver Lake and Gibbon meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Mustangs took down the Buffaloes 63-49.
Silver Lake's win came from a few key players Kenesaw will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Beau Bonifas, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 41.2% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon TenBensel, who put up 15 points and six boards.
Silver Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Silver Lake's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Kenesaw, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kenesaw has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Silver Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 32.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kenesaw came up short against Silver Lake when the teams last played back in February, falling 37-31. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
