The Burke Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-49 walloping at the hands of Gregory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Burke has suffered yet this season.
Gregory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cruz Klundt led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Klundt is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mitchell, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Burke's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Gregory, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Burke will challenge Boyd County at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Boyd County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Monday. As for Gregory, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Avon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Avon is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
