It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Freedom Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Potomac Senior at home to the tune of 75-7. The victory was just business as usual for Freedom, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Jeffrey Overton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 280 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per carry. Overton has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tristan Evans-Trujillo, who threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Freedom's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 57.86 points. As for Potomac Senior, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Freedom will square off against Colonial Forge at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Colonial Forge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Potomac Senior does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
