The St. Edward Beavers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by Osceola at home and fell 66-32. St. Edward has not had much luck with Osceola recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, St. Edward still got an impressive performance from Anthony Reader, who scored 24 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Paez, who scored 6 points.
Leading Osceola to victory were Kelby Neujahr and Kale Gustafson. Neujahr scored 15 points along with 5 steals, while Gustafson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brayden Santos, who scored 10 points along with 4 steals.
St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Osceola, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Edward won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Nebraska Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Osceola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
