The Lordstown Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Mathews Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lordstown comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Thursday, Lordstown came up short against Memorial and fell 31-20.
Meanwhile, Mathews also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to St. John by a score of 44-34. Mathews has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lordstown dropped their record down to 0-20 with that loss, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.6 points per game. As for Mathews, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Lordstown took a serious blow against Mathews in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 58-8. Thankfully for Lordstown, Brooke Bauer (who scored 25 points along with eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
