The Babcock Trailblazers are taking a road trip to take on the Dunbar Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Babcock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
If Babcock beats Dunbar with 21 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Babcock blew past South Fort Myers 21-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trailblazers.
Lexi Haley and Brooklyn Mills made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Haley tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mills tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Haley went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Mills scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That home run was Haley's first of the season.
In other batting news, Ava Greenwell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmie Barritt, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Babcock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Dunbar lost 20-4 to Everglades City on Thursday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Yozeline Garius was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Babcock's record now sits at 5-3. As for Dunbar, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Babcock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Dunbar struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Babcock's way against Dunbar in their previous matchup back in February, as Babcock made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Babcock since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
