Contreras moved up to 849 from 915 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central. The Cobras were able to make the jump by defeating Hollywood 23-21.
Contreras and the Sheiks played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Contreras eventually emerging with a 23-21 victory.
Belmont's dynamic duo of Dominique Dorsey and Irwin Hernandez proved tough for Roybal to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorsey threw for 171 yards and one touchdown and Hernandez had 123 yards receiving. Medvin Martinez helped Belmont's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.
Jose Munive was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 135 yards as Torres fell to the Titans. Ray Robles also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Joey Verduzco of the Toros is the league leader in passing yards this season with 689. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Hollywood's Ronald Clayton has rushed for 781 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sam Morales. The Hollywood star has 16 catches for 445 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Manuel Guevara's team takes on Bernstein. As it stands, the Cobras are in fifth, while the Dragons are in first.
Contreras made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,742 from 12,626. The improvement was the result of 23-21 victory over Jim McElroy IV's team last week.
