There's no place like home for Tohatchi, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Lordsburg Mavericks on Friday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Thurmond Bitsie made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Bitsie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Amir Woodie was incredible, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Titus Francisco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The victory got Tohatchi back to even at 2-2. As for Lordsburg, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2.
Looking ahead, Tohatchi will host Navajo Pine at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Tohatchi is facing Navajo Pine at the right time seeing as Navajo Pine is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lordsburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Jemez Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Jemez Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lordsburg surely won't give up without a fight.
