Buhach Colony hasn't had much luck against Atwater recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Thunder will challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Buhach Colony took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Los Banos 8-7.
Leslie Gutierrez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gutierrez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Peyton Runyan Rocha was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. Madelyn Zamarripa also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Buhach Colony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Atwater owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Golden Valley. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Buhach Colony, Atwater also got a great game from a two-way player: Kylie Medina. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Medina was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Hiler, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Riley Leonardo, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Atwater has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Buhach Colony, their record is now 6-7.
Buhach Colony suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Atwater when the teams last played back in March. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
