Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mater Dei Monarchs walked away with it. They really took it to the Padres for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory on the road. Considering Mater Dei has won ten matches by more than 27 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Among those leading the charge was Elijah Brown, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. Mater Dei also got help from Marcus Harris who showed off his sure hands for 117 receiving yards.
Mater Dei's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Nasir Wyatt and his two sacks.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Mater Dei, bringing their record for this year to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points per game. As for Serra, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-1.
Mater Dei does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Serra also has no future games currently scheduled.
