Baseball Recap: Salem Academy Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cathedral

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem Academy Charter). They put the hurt on the Cathedral Panthers with a sharp 14-3 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Navigator in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Danny Silk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Silk was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Salem Academy Charter let Josh Rosario and Avri Taguiam run wild. Rosario went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Taguiam went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two RBI gave Rosario a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilio Saez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Salem Academy Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Salem Academy Charter's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Cathedral, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

As of now, neither Salem Academy Charter nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
