If the Manteca Buffaloes were feeling good off their 52-26 takedown of the Oakdale Mustangs on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Manteca took a 70-56 bruising from St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Defeat or not, Manteca got some senior leadership from Peyton Nieman who scored 22 points along with three steals and Evani Gaeta who scored 18 points along with five assists. The contest was Nieman's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Garrison Reis was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Manteca has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteca will take on Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Sierra's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they will be playing at home against De Anza at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. De Anza will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 589th, while St. Patrick-St. Vincent is ranked 188th).
