The Natalia Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Randolph by a score of 48-45. Natalia lost against Randolph in their previous head to head back in January of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 46-14 score last time.
Natalia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anaya Jones, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Yahdi Lujan, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Natalia has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Randolph, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Natalia will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Crystal City at 10:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Navasota at 9:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Navasota will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
