Pace (Fla.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 34-14 win over
Tate (Cantonment, Fla.).
The Patriots scored seven points in the first quarter. Pace scored on a touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, PHS led 13-0 at the half.
The Patriots expanded their lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. Pace scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
J.c. Curry.
PHS's most effective player was Curry. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
The Patriots went into the matchup giving up only 15.0 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 24-10 win for Pace.
The win was a nice bounce back for PHS, which lost to Escambia last week, 29-28.
In a 6A District 1 game next week Pace (6-2) takes on Milton, and Tate (0-7) will go up against Godby in a non-conference game.
