Even though the Fullerton Indians scored an imposing 78 points on Saturday, the University Trojans still came out on top. University pulled ahead with a 79-78 photo finish over Fullerton.
University got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Bogard out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The contest was Bogard's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Christian Debarge was another key contributor, scoring 26 points along with five steals.
Fullerton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremy Guillen, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Edwards, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
University has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. As for Fullerton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
University's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Northwood will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Fullerton will take on Sunny Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sunny Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
