If the Harmony Grove Hornets were riding high off their 68-30 takedown of the Gurdon Go-Devils last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Harmony Grove took a hard 66-52 fall against Junction City on Tuesday. Harmony Grove lost against Junction City in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-60 score last time.
Junction City had a senior duo take command as Deontae James dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists and Montra Hankton scored 22 points along with four blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hankton has scored at least 25% of Junction City's points. Another player making a difference was Dovonte ?Woody? Grimes, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Harmony Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Junction City, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harmony Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bradley at 4:45 p.m. on December 27th. Junction City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m. on December 14th. Woodlawn will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
