Chatham and Hudson are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Panthers will welcome the Bluehawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Chatham barely beat Taconic Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-4 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won five contests in a row.
Chatham got a massive performance out of Thomas Pierro, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Brayden Steltz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Hudson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Watervliet on Monday. The Bluehawks blew past the Cannoneers 16-1. With that victory, the Bluehawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kam Duntz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ryan Conte was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gannon Logue, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Hudson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Hudson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Chatham, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chatham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chatham took their win against Hudson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bluehawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
