A well-balanced attack led the Statesville Greyhounds over the Foard Tigers in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Statesville came out on top against Foard by a score of 73-61. Given Statesville's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Foard is ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Statesville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Bryant out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tatum Tucker, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Foard still got an impressive performance from Graham Orndoff, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds. Orndoff hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of David Hartsoe, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Statesville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Foard, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Statesville will head out on the road to square off against West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a eight-game losing streak. As for Foard, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Lincoln at 8:00 p.m. East Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 495 points over their last seven matches.
