Terry Sanford has gone 7-0 against Harnett Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Terry Sanford took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 73-56 victory over Douglas Byrd.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Terry Sanford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamaal Miller, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Walker, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.
Terry Sanford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.
Meanwhile, Harnett Central fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Avery County on December 14th but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Trojans have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Terry Sanford will have to contain Braydon Temple as he made an impact in Harnett Central's last game. He posted 20 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Brown, who put up 12 points and four steals.
Harnett Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Terry Sanford, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Terry Sanford has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Harnett Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
