It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clinton had no problem doing just that on Sunday. Everything went their way against the Mashpee Falcons as they made off with a 9-0 win. The Gaels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Brian Silvester made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clinton let Liam Nelligan and Caleb Coyne run wild. Nelligan went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Coyne went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Nelligan has posted since back in April. Davis Lunn also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mashpee, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.
As of now, neither Clinton nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
