The Piedmont Academy Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Gatewood Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Piedmont Academy has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Gatewood will arrive with nine straight victories.
Last Friday, Piedmont Academy lost to Westminster Christian Academy at home by a decisive 48-32 margin.
Meanwhile, even though Brentwood scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, Gatewood still came out on top. Gatewood walked away with an 81-69 victory over Brentwood.
Matt Allen was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 21 from beyond the arc en route to 54 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Callaway, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Piedmont Academy dropped their record down to 2-23 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Gatewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.
Piedmont Academy was taken down by Gatewood 84-52 when the teams last played last Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Allen, who shot 11-for-20 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 47 points and nine steals.
