GISA 2AA recap October 1, 2013
Brentwood scaled the state rankings by moving to 100 from 169 this week, the biggest jump in GISA 2AA. The War Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Bulloch Academy 47-0.
Memorial Day took down First Presbyterian Christian Academy 87-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Earl Washington threw for 79 yards and ran for 20 yards in the win.
6-foot-3 quarterback Joshua Woodley of Bethesda Academy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 402. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Deric Wright. The Memorial Day star has 10 catches for 188 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Bethesda Academy and the Matadors face off next week.
Next week's game between Antwain Turner's team and Memorial Day will feature a good passing match up as Woodley will test his arm against Wright's defensive ability.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Trinity Christian takes on Brentwood. At the moment, the Crusaders are in fourth, while Bert Brown's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Bethesda Academy and Michael Thompson's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bethesda Academy comes in having scored 96 this season, while the Matadors have scored 189. Bethesda Academy scored 8 points last week as it fell to Pinewood Christian.
Trinity Christian and Toombs Christian Academy played the most contested game in GISA 2AA this week, with Trinity Christian eventually emerging with a 10-6 victory.
