Northwest hasn't had much luck against Dickson County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Northwest will challenge Dickson County at 6:00 p.m. Northwest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Northwest needed a bit of extra time to put away West Creek. They put the hurt on the Coyote with a sharp 17-8 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Coyote recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Gracie Scudder and May Barnholtz made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Scudder tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Barnholtz pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Scudder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Scudder scored a run while going 1-for-6, while Barnholtz scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases were Barnholtz's first of the season.
In other batting news, Nazaret Garcia was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Karena Frost, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dickson County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Fairview get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.
The team relied heavily on Kailey Beene, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Brianna Ellis was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Dickson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Northwest's record now sits at 3-5.
Northwest suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Dickson County when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Northwest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
