Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearsarge). They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Inter-Lakes Lakers on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Andrew Bates was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Bates was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Cote, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derik Swanson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Kearsarge's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Inter-Lakes, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
