The Innovation Montessori Panthers's 23-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Monday. They claimed a resounding 62-34 victory over Apopka Christian Academy at home. Innovation Montessori's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Innovation Montessori to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevor Thorsen, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Thorsen pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalid Imran, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Innovation Montessori's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9. As for Apopka Christian Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Innovation Montessori won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hampden DuBose Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Hampden DuBose Academy is ranked 784th, while Innovation Montessori is ranked 792nd). Apopka Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bridge to Independence at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
