Softball Recap: Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Tuesday. Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] fell just short of Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] by a score of 10-9. Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] was not able to make up for their defeat to Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Daphne Lauer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Kittler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky]'s loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart], the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] will face off against rival Hazen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] is set to challenge their familiar foe Beulah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
