Stanton County hasn't had much luck against Bucklin recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Red Aces at 4:00 p.m. Stanton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Stanton County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Elkhart on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Wildcats.
Stanton County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eduardo Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Bucklin got the win against Sublette on Monday by a conclusive 23-8. The result was nothing new for the Red Aces, who have now won seven games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Nick Fiekert was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Williems, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Bucklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sublette only posted an OBP of .481.
The victory made it two in a row for Bucklin and bumps their season record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Stanton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stanton County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bucklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
