The Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs will challenge the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Dora Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Mount Dora Christian Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Foundation Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.
Jayden Wise was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wise was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other pitching news, Mount Dora Christian Academy got a good showing from Justin Martin, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Wise wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Calton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Braden Waring was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Seven Rivers Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 17-5 to Saint Francis Catholic.
Noah Lemar made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Mount Dora Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Seven Rivers Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mount Dora Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Seven Rivers Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
