Blackman extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-6. They lost 10-1 to the Clarksville Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blaze of the 5-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
Blackman got a good showing from Stellar Martin, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Blackman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Monson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Clarksville, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average this season.
On Clarksville's side, Braden Taylor tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Taylor posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Benton Barksdale, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Dalton Byrd was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackman will host Franklin Road Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clarksville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cookeville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
