Challis had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it five. They came up short against the Salmon Savages, falling 34-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Salmon, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.3 runs this season.
For Salmon's part, Eli Pakuer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Pakuer has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in six of his seven plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four).
In other pitching news, Reuel McCallum and Dane Piippo dominated on the mound. McCallum went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Piippo went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs McCallum has posted since back in April of 2025.
Back at the plate, Clayton Allen was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Thomas Baumer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Coming up, Challis will square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salmon, they will host North Fremont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
