Two dominant backs in Fred Brown and Roderick McCrary are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Coffee Trojans and the Creekside Seminoles will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 4:00 p.m. on December 13th. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Coffee sitting on 14 straight wins and Creekside on 11.
Coffee had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past Cartersville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 33-18. Coffee's win was all the more impressive since Cartersville was averaging only 11.5 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Brown, who rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Brown is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Coffee also got help from Patrick Mccall who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Creekside faced Jefferson in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Creekside came out on top against Jefferson by a score of 28-17 on Friday.
Creekside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McCrary, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown. McCrary hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinson Berry, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Coffee pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Creekside, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Coffee came up short against Creekside in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 28-18. Thankfully for Coffee, Nyqua Lett (who threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 80 yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
